Lament for Syria

 

Composed in her small but quaint room in Oxford a few months into her master’s program in 2017, Dunya was overwhelmed with emotion when the news broke of the chemical attacks in Syria that year. After finding the few but enchanting chords that rotate throughout the song, a minimal and haunting violin melody flowed onto the page.

“The song basically wrote itself in ten minutes. My pen and guitar were just the vessels.”
